Dane Faesen Kloet
Senior Architectural Designer / LBP Design 1
"We are all South Pacific Islanders and our architecture must respond to this unique environmental and social context."
Dane was fortunate to be at Architecture School during an unique transitional period from the analog to the digital age. He is from a generation where the ability to communicate through sketches, drawings and models are a prized commodity.
After graduating Dane worked for Francis Group Architects (FGA) in Takapuna, where over 3 years he gained invaluable experience across many project types including residential, retail, offices and hospitality.
Dane’s architecture career took a non-linear turn, when he left FGA. The pinnacle of this architectural phase culminated in the “Pataka” beach house Dane designed at Omaha. From here Dane returned to the Family retail business , the Golf Warehouse where in 2012 he became a Director.
In his time 'outside' of traditional architecture practice he continued to develop his skills not only in design, but in project management, property management, marketing and on the 'other side of the fence' as a client.
His involvement in the business world has enabled him to hone a strong sense of commercial awareness. He has a strong passion for the reduction of construction waste and believes the profession needs to take more responsibility and stewardship for what we send to our landfills.
Dane's favourite Architects are John Lautner, Rick Joy & Pete Bossley. He highly recommends visiting a building that truly moved him - Temppeliaukio Kirkko ('Church in the Rock') in Helsinki by brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen. He dreams of visiting the 'Sheats Goldstein House' in Los Angeles by John Lautner.
When not designing Dane can be found raising his 2 boys, surfing, snowboarding, paddle boarding, playing golf, collecting plastic waste off the beach and searching out new electronic music.
If Dane is on your project, expect to have a compulsory Nikau Palm incorporated into your design.
